K-BOB STAR is a project that transforms a non-mainstream Asian woman into a virtual figure within the mainstream pop culture, shedding light on her life from various angles.Young-E Son, a senior woman in South Korea (the artist's grandmother), belongs to the marginalized, having never received recognition in Korean society. She has never been involved in economic activities, dedicating her entire life to household chores and domestic duties.
In this project, she becomes a virtual pop star, completely different from reality. In this world, Young-E Son takes on the rap name 'Big Hand,' lending her voice to popular pop song instrumental tracks. The alter ego 'Big Hand' reveals her life and values through straightforward lyrics without any embellishment.The primary emotions in pop music stem from self-love and youthfulness (or youthful immaturity) originated from the West. 'Big Hand' betrays this tune by singing about blind love for the home, mundane household labor, and the typical daily life of a Korean elderly woman.
